Review Characterization Chart and Some More Definitions

Today we reviewed the Characterization Chart and discussed the physical and personal traits of the various characters in The Outsiders.  Afterward I had you give my feedback (thumbs up, thumbs down) if our discussion helped you understand physical/personal traits.  Only a few had their thumbs down.  If that was you, I asked you to either talk with me or a friend who understands it better.  Remember: we want to develop into INDEPENDENT learners.  Be aware of your mistakes and get help for them!!  You know I am available whenever you need me!

Next you took down new definitions from our literature book:

  • plot
  • exposition
  • rising action
  • climax
  • falling action (resolution, denouement)
  • setting
  • theme
  • conflict (external, internal)
  • denotation
  • connotation
  • protagonist
  • antagonist
Tomorrow we will discuss these definitions and apply them to The Outsiders!

Homework:
Read over your definitions to familiarize yourself with them!
